If you connect to the VPN service, you will have the option to select any server based on need or location from a drop down box. You can use the VPN software on up to five devices simultaneously with unlimited bandwidth on a single account. You can secure all your household devices, including your mobile devices and desktop computers.

The company supports P2P and torrent traffic on every one of its servers, except the ones in New Zealand, US and UK. TorGuard has a variety of exceptional features. If you want to use L2TP/IPSec or PPTP, TorGuard provides comprehensive instructions on how to configure the built-in client of the operating system.

If you prefer to use OpenVPN (the most private and secure), there are detailed instructions on configuring with Viscosity. Viscosity is an OpenVPN client that provides detailed statistics about your connection times and reliable connectivity. Viscosity is available for Windows, Mac OS X 10.5 or newer and XP SP3 or newer.

With Viscosity you get a few extra features, for instance a great status graph and IPv6 leak protection.

If you do not want to use Viscosity and you’d like to have an installer file that you download and started using, you can quickly download a custom build dialer app, known as TorGuard Lite. TorGuard Lite provides OpenVPN connectivity with shared server lists. It is available for all platforms not including Boxee and iOS. TorGuard Pro is a modified version of Viscosity, while TorGuard Lite is an installer file.

TorGuard has an amazingly simple look, dedicated IP addresses, various server lists and easy-to-follow useful articles.

Security:

Security features with TorGuard are very impressive.

TorGuard comes with a kill switch, which is important for protecting your browsing identity and data if your VPN connection ever disconnects. Without a kill switch in position, you would be left identifiable and exposed if your VPN software ever disconnects.

This service also uses various tunneling protocols, including PPTP, SSTP, Ikev2, L2TP/IPsec and OpenVPN for the connection on Mac Linux, Windows, iOS, OS X and Android. You can also use system routers that run the open-source DD-WRT software, and also Boxee Box. The 256-bit OpenVPN encryption is actually the best in terms of security to any user. TorGuard also uses 256-bit encryption and TSL tunneling.

Using firewall rules, the proxy service can quickly prevent spam and respond to DMCA takedown request by quickly blocking the source of abuse on a server protocol. It can stop violations very quickly and effectively within 24 hours.

Apart from secure BitTorrent and VPN services, TorGuard also provides anonymous email service. We all know how essential email security can be for both businesses and individuals. Emails are the top and major targets of hackers, and the company enables you to keep them safe using log-free offshore email storage, secure G/PGP Encryption, bulk POP3 email input and MITM protection.

You no longer have to worry about any sensitive information being exposed. Though they have off-shore operations to collect customers’ personal information on registration, it’s understood that it is kept for marketing reasons and up selling advertisements to customers. It’s hard to beat their first rate protection

Privacy

There is no need to opt for a proxy service if the company does not guarantee customer privacy protection. TorGuard prioritizes the privacy and security of the customers’ personal information above everything else.

TorGuard does not store traffic or logs from its web proxy or virtual private network. Though, their privacy policy states they use cookies and collect information on how you use their website while you are on the site. The company also says that it may use your personal information to contact regarding promotional services and may also share your details with its business partners and affiliates. This is rather disappointing since the main goal for using a VPN is to stay anonymous when browsing and keep your details secure.

For BitTorrent users, the VPN provides anonymous torrent proxy and private IP address for safe sharing of documents. For VPN plan users, the company makes use of 256-bit encryption techniques and DNS leak protection and provides absolute safety to all users.

Speed

Speed is very important for any peer-2-peer devotee. Simply changing an IP address is not enough to stop tracking networks from tracking you. Not many options are given though, far as testing servers online is concerned. To measure its speed, you can run the speed tests options available on sites such as http://SpeedTest.net to measure upload and download speeds when connecting to different regions.

Some locations will have blazing fast speeds, for instance the United States, and others will have fast speeds. You are able to surf the Web and even view videos online. TorGuard has no bandwidth restrictions; hence you can stream Netflix and also download torrents.

Usability

The software app you download to use the Virtual Private Network is simple to set up and very easy to use. You just select the server location from the drop down box and then the protocol and then connect, it’s that simple.

If you are reading this review then you are most probably accessing the Deep Web and searching Darknet Markets. For this reason you should NOT buy the “Anonymous Proxy” as it does not include a VPN therefore it will not give you the encryption and privacy you need, you need to take the VPN Pro Package or the Privacy Bundle as it has the VPN in the package and will give you maximum anonymity and privacy.

The website asks you to specify how many devices you want included to your plan. As earlier stated, TorGuard allows you to use up to five simultaneous devices. Every additional device comes at an extra $1 per month. So if you’re going to use five or less devices, you keep the extra cost here at zero; if you’ll have six in total, then the entered value has to be one, and so forth.

Extra Viscosity licenses are available at $1 each as well, per month. You can also specify if you want to have a regular dedicated IP address for only $7.99 per month, so that every time you connect to the proxy service, you’ll always get the same IP location.

TorGuard also offers anonymous email service with offshore email storage and secure web based G/PGP encryption. Users have the option of signing up for unlimited storage at $5.33 per month with quarterly billing, or as little as $4.16 per month with yearly billing. If you choose the “Privacy Bundle” then it is included in the price.

        Customer Support

Not everybody is tech savvy and sometimes we may need help. VPN technologies are mostly complicated for newbie and might want to seek help setting it up and resolving compatibility issues.

TorGuard has a normal customer service system that includes ticketing system and live chat support. Although TorGuard guarantees a 24×7 online support to its users through live chat and email ticketing, lots of users have expressed disappointment over lack of response when they send inquiries through their system.

The company has a vast FAQ where you can find a lot of information that’s related to most of the inquiries you may have.

The quick and step-by-step tutorials on their platform make users experience easier. Regardless of the company being founded in 2012, it provides what’s needed to enjoy fast, cheap and secure internet access.

The Torrent and Proxy service tutorials are accessible in pdf format for offline reading and online on the TorGuard website. The tutorials cover the setup methods for major apps, browsers and devices (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Skype, Internet Explorer, Boxee Box, uTorrent, Vuze, Deluge and BitTorrent).

All in all, TorGuard is quite good when compared to other paid proxy services. It offers a great selection of servers to connect to, great connectivity with different devices and most importantly excellent privacy and anonymity that you need when using the Deep Web.

I have been a loyal Torguard user for going on 5 years now, and hands down they have the BEST VPN software around. At first I want to say that this will be an elaborated post, due to some information that is within the review article being incorrect and would like to take the opportunity to set the facts straight. TorGuard has the most advanced encryption and VPN protocols in the world. It uses AES-256 encryption with SHA-512--alongside unique secure protocols such as Stunnel, OpenVPN, Wireguard and IKEv2. This is matched with impenetrable double layered Stealth VPN + Stealth Proxy security. The Stealth VPN connects as per normal by obfuscating and encrypting the OpenVPN headers and rerouting the port through the 4443 Stealth Port, then the Stealth proxy kicks in to wrap it all in another layer of encryption. This prevents Deep Packet Inspection from detecting that you are using a VPN and allows you to bypass the worlds strictest firewalls. Nobody can see through the tunnel and see your internet data, not even your ISP. ** One thing i must make correct is the part of the review that talks about Torguards use of personal information and use of coookies only pertaining to your use of Torguards site.** Torguard DOES NOT request nor require you to input any personally identifiable information into your account for any reason. I have been with Torguard for about 5 years now, and they have never once asked for my personal information, even upon registering. When you leave the personal information portions of your account blank, proxy info is put into these fields to further the security on both the user and networks sides. The information would look something like this: First Name: Anonymous Last Name Tor Guard User Address: 123 Main St City: City State: AL Zip: 10011 The only piece of "personal information" that would be be utilized by Tor Guard are cookies specific to your use of TorGuards website only. The cookies are for allowing users to use the auto-fill saved login info to login to websites. That way you can login quicker with that browser feature. When you setup your account WITHOUT ANY Personally Identifiable information as I have explained; The ONLY personal information for promotional marketing opportunities that CAN or WOULD be used is the email you used to create your Tor Guard account. DONT USE an email that has your personally identifiable information on it! Torguard also has many more options to pay that would allow you to remain AT LEAST psuedononymous, but also fully anonymous. Such as using Bitcoin to remain pseduononymous and using monero to be fully anonymous. So there are the corrections to the OP I have and also the simple tweaks to further ones OpSec. 1. Dont fill in your personal information on your TorGuard Account. 2. Disable Cookie that allows your browsers auto-fill of saved logins, to allow you to login quicker. 3. Dont use an email that has your personal information on it. 4. Pay with Monero I have tried many others that claim to be the best, and can give TorGuard a run for its money, such as PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN, IPVanish and ProtonVPN And for shits and giggles, I decided to gain a full perspective into the horrors that are thrown about with the security of VPNs that claim to be the best but are complete dog shit VPN providers, such as Nord VPN, Norton Secure VPN, Express VPN, Vyper VPN, CyberGhost, TunnelBear, HideMyAss VPN, Surfshark and many many others... Of the first group I mentioned, based on features, security protocols, and OpSec, PIA VPN would be the next in line at giving TorGuard a Run for its money. PIA VPN has many high quality security features and has one of the fastest tested overall connections while using a VPN. That is due to their implementation of WireGuard. PIA VPN allows for use of video streaming services + uses dedicated IP addresses and has a built in antivirus; but lacks in firewall hardening, secure port options, a built in proxy server and encryption protocols to choose from. PIA VPN was one of the first supporters of WireGuard and is open about its implementation of the communication protocol but does not disclose what types of features have been built on top of WireGuard's open source code. Taking into consideration good OpSec, without confirmation of PIA having built additional or security features on top of WireGuard, we must assume that they have NOT made additions. There are still a few major disadvantages of using stock WireGuard source code. - It is only UDP over UDP, unless you are to encapsulate packets given that IPv4 and IPv6 protocols are supported. But then latency and bandwidth are sacrificed. - It Cannot allocate dynamic IP Addresses - It logs a users REAL IP ADDRESS - Lacks Obfuscation - DOES NOT SUPPORT PFC (Perfect Forward Secrecy) use of static keys during handshakes and does not generate new keys for each session. Any breach of a network sever endpoint, the intruder can obtain the keys and decrypt your internet traffic. Other disadvantages that using PIA has is that it does require your personal information to be put into your account for Payment Authentication and Verification when paying with your debit/credit card and does not offer anonymous payment methods. This creates personally identifiable information on your account if that was ever to be compromised or requested via a subpoena. TorGuard beats out PIA by not requiring personal information on your account and offers anonymous payment options. Along with that, Torguard was the first VPN provider to build out a security hardened WireGuard implementation along with many additional features to align the connection protocol within TorGuard's privacy policy. So no user IP address, information or data is ever logged or stored server-side, keeping you anonymous when browsing the web. Using WireGuard through TorGuard means that - You can allocate dynamic IP addresses when connecting. - It DOES NOT log your Real IP Address - It implements PFC (Perfect Forward Secrecy) which changes and uses new keys each session - implements multiple obfuscation techniques. WHAT IS WIREGUARD? WireGuard is a layer 3 secure communication protocol that provides VPN Tunneling to establish connection to an encrypted Virtual Private Network on the kernal network stack instead of through layer 2 TLS. It supports UDP and both IPv4 and IPv6, both outside and within the tunnel. Moreover, it can encapsulate packets within one another (protect IPv4 data with an IPv6 protection packet and vice versa). HOW DOES WIREGUARD WORK? WireGuard uses tried and tested cryptography primitives (well-established low resource algorithms) and a system of public keys exchange via pre-shared symmetric key mode called “Cryptokey Routing”. Each network interface gets a short private and public key and assigns users a VPN IP address based on the latter. Public keys are distributed similarly to OpenSSH public keys and used for authentication between peers (such as an application on the client-side) and the network interface. VPN configuration between the client and server is not only pre-defined but also connectionless. This consumes fewer resources and makes the protocol user-friendly. EVIDENT ADVANTAGES OVER CURRENT STANDARD CRYPTOGRAPHY: Because it’s based on crypto primitives, users don’t need to (and can’t) tinker with the configuration and wreak havoc. Moreover, connecting and reconnecting to the VPN server is instantaneous. As a reminder, VPNs based on other protocols usually need a few or up to 30 seconds to fully establish the VPN connection. The WireGuard network interfaces only communicate with the peers whose assigned public IP address is on the Allowed list. Otherwise, incoming packets are dropped. In other words, when sending data packets, the list of IP addresses represents a routing table. When receiving them, it becomes an Access Control List. Because it won’t respond to unknown packets, any inquiries and scanning of your network by any entity including your ISP, it won’t reveal you’re using a VPN. Even better, once WireGuard detects there’s no data transfer, the connection is paused, saving data on both sides of the tunnel, which acts as a built in KillSwitch. After connecting to WireGuard for the first time, and your assigned IP address is being logged in the Access Control List, using IP Roaming allows both client and server can discover new endpoints using the location of the latest successful decryption. Therefore, both sides can switch between types of connections (Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc.) without interruption or editing the VPN configuration. DETAILED DATA FOR ADVANCED USERS: Although the explanation above has been put into layman's terms for all to understand. For those with extensive knowledge, here’s what it uses and what for: Curve25519 to exchange public keys BLAKE2s as a cryptographic hash function (CHF) ChaCha20 to achieve symmetric encryption SipHash to implement hash tables for keys Poly1305 to authenticate message codes (MACs or tags)

Been using TG for a good 3-4 months now and sometimes it may not be the fastest with the highest level of security, you can use open connect which is faster. It has tons of options to chose from for security and has definitely gotten much better since this was released.

I’ve had this service a couple of years now…I’d give it 5 stars….No complaints…Solid connections, good speed, and tickets are responded to pretty quickly. I’d recommend it to my friends and family.

Better stay away with NORDVPN. Servers are very unstable, having technical issues every month, most servers are always down almost 80% of them, 70% of the time speeds are very slow like you’re in a dial-up. Customer service representatives are completely useless, responses are from canned response (scripted). Technicians are stupid, could not even make the servers stable for a whole month.

Terrible! Had Torguard for 3 days & spent time mostly tinkering with settings & reading Forums. Suggestions by Torguard help did not work. Major problems were “Connecting to Peers” message which lasted hours OR the message “Proxy Connect Error: Connection Closed By Peer” OR timeouts. The little downloading that was done was at an extremely low speed. Highly over-rated. Maybe they wre big at one time but no more. A major disappointment & especially a waste of time.

Terrible. Torrents worked and speed good but utorrent showed unconnectible which is a port issue. They advised how to set a port forward but no suggestions fixed the issues. Then around the time USA woke up my speeds dropped to 1.1MB constant and never fluctuated. Disconnect and port issue and speed all fixed. They deny all throttle of speeds and we had 12hrs offering basic support that didn’t help. I asked to cancel and refund and they asked again to help and can we hold off the cancel. I headed home to continue our support after all day at work trying to fix. When got home they had cancelled me with no notification and no advise on refund. I am new chasing them for refund advise.

They are clearly not very professional and have no ideas on fixing basic port issues. And went admit throttle when clearly do. 1.1MB on all servers all day after 9am USA time

          Avoid

Two more features about TorGuard that I think are worth mentioning:

          1. They accept payment by gift card, with a hundred or so to choose from. torguard.net/blog/torguard-now-accepts-100-gift-cards/

          2. BlackBerry 10 users can connect using Generic IKEv2. This has worked for me on the Q10, Z30, and Passport. torguard.net/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=102
